Klansville KKK

The documentary we watched in class showed the rise and fall of the KKK in North Carolina. The third wave of the Ku Klux Klan came in the 1960s as a response to the civil rights movement. Specifically, the Klan grew in North Carolina from nearly no members to 2,000 in the next two years. The documentary showed the horrific violence and the results of the Klan during their run. The KKK posed as a big threat during the 60's, however it is now looked at as a failed social movement. The KKK was responsible for many killings, bombings, and lynchings. The Klan more masks to disguise who they were and more known for burning crosses. The point of the KKK was to show that white had supremacy over blacks. Even though during the 60's the Klan was successful, they are no longer functioning today.
